Manchin Statement on Job-Creating Expansion at Buffalo Toyota Plant

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today made the following statement about Toyota’s planned expansion at West Virginia’s Buffalo plant, which will amount to a total investment of $45 million and is expected to create 80 new jobs.

“Toyota is one of West Virginia’s best partners, and I am thrilled that the company is planning another investment and expansion that will create 80 new jobs at our very own Buffalo plant,” Senator Manchin said. “This announcement speaks to the strength of the Toyota brand, and is a testament to West Virginia’s tremendous workforce. Over the past 15 years, Toyota has learned that West Virginia is home to some of the hardest working men and women in America – you have put your faith in us, and in turn, we have embraced you, too.

“I could not be more proud. I would like to thank President of Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America and COO Mr. Terashi, Toyota’s West Virginia President Mr. Suzuki, and the Buffalo General Manager Mike Lutz for all you have done to strengthen and grow the partnership between Toyota and our great state. Your continued investment and confidence in West Virginia means more to us than I can say. And, it sends a strong message around the world that West Virginia is a great place to do business.”
