“In my opinion, this decision was based purely on political desires and not policy facts. The facts are that multiple State Department studies have all concluded that the pipeline will have no significant impact on our environment, and this project would have created over 20,000 direct jobs. The President and this Administration continue to block America’s path to energy independence. The Keystone XL pipeline is not only a job creator; it would also have limited our dependence on foreign oil and transported oil in the most environmentally-friendly way possible. The pipeline would give us the opportunity to buy oil from Canada--our neighbor, our ally and one of our greatest trading partners. It’s a shame the President refuses to see the economic possibilities this project offers.”
