Manchin Statement on Three Year Anniversary of Robert C. Byrd's Passing
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today released the following statement on the three-year anniversary of Senator Robert C. Byrd’s death.
“Three years ago, we lost a pillar of the United States Senate, a beloved West Virginia statesman and an unwavering guardian of the Constitution – Senator Robert C. Byrd,” said Senator Manchin. “His contributions and dedication to our state and this great nation inspired us all and his influence stretched far beyond West Virginia’s borders. I am incredibly honored to carry on his legacy in the Senate, and although his shoes can never be filled, I will continuously strive to follow in his footsteps and be guided by his wisdom, passion and strength. I encourage all West Virginians today to take a moment and remember Senator Byrd and his unparalleled 63 years of public service.”
