Manchin To Vote For Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke
Washington,
DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released the following statement on
his decision to vote to advance Kristen Clarke, nominee for Assistant Attorney
General for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, to bring
her nomination before the full Senate.
“Today I voted to advance the nomination of Kristen
Clarke for Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division. She is a
dedicated public servant who has spent her career serving our nation as an
advocate for civil rights. Ms. Clarke is highly qualified to lead the Civil
Rights Division with experience as a trial attorney, special assistant, and
prosecutor under President George W. Bush. Her nomination is supported by
numerous law enforcement organizations, and I am confident that Ms. Clarke will
seek equal justice for all Americans. I will vote for her confirmation when she
comes before the full Senate and I look forward to working with Ms. Clarke in
her new role at the Department of Justice.”
