Manchin Tours Hurricane City Park Upgrades
Huntington, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) toured the Hurricane City Park Skate Park and Meeks Mountain Trail Head and held a business roundtable with the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.
“When 14-year-old Hurricane resident Nate Giertz wrote to Hurricane Mayor, Scott Edwards, asking for the city to build a multi-purpose park for skateboarders, roller skaters and scooter riders, the city listened. I’m proud of Nate for getting involved and making a difference in his community, and I commend the city of Hurricane for prioritizing this fantastic new park. I also had the opportunity to tour the Meeks Mountain Trail Head, the beginning of 26 miles of expansive hiking and biking trails on the back of Hurricane. I’m impressed with the city’s dedication to investing in economic opportunities across the area, and look forward to seeing the benefits of the park and trails in the years to come.”
