Manchin Votes To Confirm OMB Deputy Director Young
Young was confirmed 63-37 with strong bipartisan support
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), voted to confirm Shalanda Young as Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
“Today I voted to confirm Shalanda Young as OMB Deputy Director. As clerk and staff director for the House Appropriations Committee, Ms. Young is one of the most knowledgeable people in the country on the federal budget process. Her expertise and knowledge undoubtedly qualify her to lead OMB. Ms. Young has confirmed her commitment to follow the law, regardless of her personal views, and I applaud her commitment to working with Members on both sides of the aisle. For these reasons, I believe Ms. Young will be a strong OMB leader and look forward to working with her to help our nation recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure rural states like West Virginia are considered in future budget decisions.”
