Manchin Wishes West Virginians a Happy, Safe Fourth of July

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today issued the following statement to mark America’s Independence Day:

“The Fourth of July is a time for Americans to come together with our neighbors and celebrate the founding of our great nation, the freedoms that we all enjoy as well as our nation’s heroes who fought to defend and protect us here at home and abroad.

“But this year, through every snap of a flag and every crack of a firecracker, we are not only reminded of our brave service men and women’s unwavering service, but also of the gallant efforts of our first responders and thousands of volunteers who are giving this holiday and many days to follow to serve our fellow West Virginians in their greatest hour of need.

“What makes our state and nation so special is our creative and giving spirit. We have an inner light that burns so bright that no one can keep us down or defeat us. We come together in difficult times – in times of war and in times of tragedy.

“I share the pride all West Virginians feel in America and in the Mountain State, today and every day, and I wish all of you a very happy and safe Fourth of July. May God bless you and your families, the great state of West Virginia and the United States of America. May He watch over our flood-damaged communities, give comfort to all of those impacted and give us strength and guidance as we rebuild our state.”
