Manchin's Ride for Fallen Service Heroes Raises $35K for Gold Star Families
Senator Manchin joined more than 200 riders to honor families of Fallen West Virginia service members
Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced that Sunday’s inaugural Ride for Fallen Service Heroes raised $35,000 for the West Virginia National Guard Foundation for Gold Star Families, families who have lost loved ones in defense of our country. Senator Manchin presented the check to the families at a picnic at the West Virginia National Guard Armory following the round-trip motorcycle ride from Charleston to Fayetteville, which was sponsored by the Harley Owners Group (HOG) Capitol City WV Chapter #5439.
“West Virginia is a very patriotic state, and the love that we have for our service members and their families is unwavering,” Senator Manchin said. “We always want to do all we can to honor our Fallen service heroes, wounded warriors and their families, and that is what this ride was all about. It was an honor and a privilege to take this inaugural ride and raise money for our Gold Star Families. I thank everyone who made this such an outstanding event, and I look forward to continuing this tradition into the future.”
