Manchin's State Staff to Participate in “Serving our Seniors”

Washington, D.C. – As part of Governor Earl Ray Tomblin’s “Day to Serve” volunteer initiative scheduled this year from September 15-29, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced that his staff will participate in 9 “Serving Our Seniors” events across the Mountain State.  Senator Manchin is a member of the Senate Special Committee on Aging.

“Like I always say, if you can count your blessings, then you can share your blessings,” Senator Manchin said. “As West Virginia’s former Governor and now as U.S. Senator, one of my top priorities is to promote volunteer service. What stands out about West Virginians is their willingness to help someone they barely know simply because it is for the good of the community. This volunteer initiative is the perfect way for West Virginians to give something back and my staff wanted to do their part so they have put together 9 events to serve our seniors.”

During each event, Senator Manchin’s staff will volunteer in various ways, from serving meals to visiting with individuals to reading aloud.
