Monday: Manchin Kicks Off Weeklong Focus on ‘Commonsense Ideas for a Stronger America’

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) will travel across West Virginia next week for a tour highlighting “Commonsense Ideas for a Stronger America.” During the week, Senator Manchin will highlight the commonsense ideas that made this country strong in the past and will again help build a stronger West Virginia and a stronger America: investing in infrastructure, supporting education and retraining, fighting drug abuse in our communities, reining in job-killing regulations and achieving energy independence.

“America, our great nation, is at a crossroads right now, and it’s up to elected leaders in Washington to get behind the commonsense ideas that will move this country forward, get this economy moving again, and most importantly, put people back to work,” Senator Manchin said. “Instead of focusing on the next election, it’s time for my colleagues in Congress and the President to focus on the next generation. Investing in our infrastructure, training our workforce for the jobs that exist, fighting drug abuse in our communities and achieving energy independence are not Democratic ideas or Republican ideas – those are commonsense American ideas. These are the solutions we need to achieve if we are going to rebuild America.”

Senator Manchin will make stops in Charleston, Huntington, Parkersburg, Fairmont, Beckley, Oceana, Princeton and Morgantown. Additional events may be added to his schedule.
