Senate Passes Manchin Resolution Honoring Americorps Volunteers
Washington, D.C. – Yesterday the U.S. Senate passed S. Res. 540, introduced by U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), designating March 8-14 as AmeriCorps week. The resolution acknowledges the significant accomplishments of AmeriCorps members and alumni, and raises awareness about the importance of national service.
“West Virginia has always had a long tradition of neighbors helping neighbors. National service is an important part of our future as a state and nation, and its impact can never be overstated. I am proud to represent our state which puts such a high premium on community service, and I am pleased that the Senate passed this resolution recognizing the selfless work of AmeriCorps members. I look forward to seeing AmeriCorps continue to thrive in West Virginia and across our nation,” said Senator Manchin.
