Senate Passes Manchin, Wicker Bipartisan Resolution To Honor Gold Star Children
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (I-WV) member of both the U.S. Senate Armed Services and U.S. Veterans’ Affairs Committees, and Roger Wicker (R-MS), Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, applauded the Senate passage of their bipartisan resolution to designate August 1st, 2024 as Gold Star Children’s Day. The resolution recognizes the unique sacrifices and hardships of the children of Fallen service members.
“West Virginians and Americans are forever grateful to the brave patriots and their families who have made the ultimate sacrificed for the country we all love,” said Senator Manchin. “No child should ever have to grow up without a parent, and I cannot imagine the pain of losing a loved one in the line of duty. I am proud that our bipartisan resolution designating August 1st, 2024 as Gold Star Children’s Day has passed the Senate to honor their dedication and sacrifice to the nation we all love so dearly. I extend my deepest condolences and upmost gratitude to every Gold Star family and child.”
“The sons and daughters of our fallen service members carry on their legacy. Recognizing them with this special day is the least we can do to honor the lifelong sacrifice they made,” said Senator Wicker.
