Senator Manchin Cancels "Being Charlie" Viewing Due to Flooding in West Virginia
Washington, D.C. – Today U.S. Senator Manchin (D-WV) announced the cancelation of the special viewing of Rob Reiner’s film “Being Charlie” and discussion with Rob on the nationwide substance abuse epidemic that was scheduled to be on Wednesday, June 29 in Washington, D.C.
“I am disappointed to cancel an event highlighting the opioid epidemic that is ravaging my state and our country, however I need to be in West Virginia so I can help West Virginians impacted by the flooding as much as I can,” Senator Manchin said. “Right now the extreme flooding that has devastated my state needs my full attention, but I look forward to rescheduling this event to bring much needed attention to the important issue of opioid abuse.”
