Tuesday: Manchin's 'Our Values, Our Priorities' Week to Focus on Strengthening Our Families

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) will tomorrow focus on strengthening our families as part of “Our Values, Our Priorities” Week. Senator Manchin is traveling the state this week and highlighting a different issue each day: creating jobs, strengthening our families, protecting our seniors, growing small businesses and achieving energy independence.
After the U.S. House of Representatives voted to decimate funding for Head Start, Senator Manchin will visit a Head Start facility in Dunbar tomorrow morning to discuss the program with teachers.
“We are facing challenging budget decisions, and this week I am talking to West Virginians about what matters to them, like funding for vulnerable children through Head Start. We have to start crafting our budgets around what we can afford, not what we want to spend, or we won’t be able to afford necessary programs like Head Start,” Senator Manchin said. “Our national budget has to focus on the priorities that matter to Americans all across this great country and should be based on what’s good for the next generation, not the next election.”
As negotiations on the budget continue in Washington, Senator Manchin strongly believes this country’s elected leaders need to face the financial challenges facing this country head-on. Senator Manchin is eager to hear from West Virginians about their priorities and values for this country’s future.
