WV Strong: Berkeley County Meals on Wheels
Berkeley County
Today’s Better Angels are the team at Berkeley County Meals on Wheels. They’ve delivered 1,000 meals per week to homebound seniors during this pandemic. 120 volunteer drivers, packers, servers and kitchen help to sustain this outstanding program. As we know, our seniors are among the most vulnerable population to the coronavirus.
Because many of the volunteers for Meals on Wheels were seniors themselves, they were unable to participate. However, Meal on Wheels reached out through social media and the community quickly banded together to help. Teachers, younger volunteers and others came forward to fill in the gaps. According to Dianne Waldron, the program manager at Berkeley Meals on Wheels, not one homebound senior they serve has gone without a meal. I truly appreciate Berkeley County Meals on Wheels and all the community members and volunteers who have helped with this important endeavor.
