Manchin and Capito Announce Funding for Bluefield and Logan Airports

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today announced a total of $390,224 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation for airports in Bluefield and Logan. The grants will be used to restore and repair airport and runway areas.

“As a pilot myself, I understand how important it is that we maintain the infrastructure at our rural airports,” Senator Manchin said. “This funding will enable Mercer and Logan County Airports to make necessary improvements to continue safely and efficiently serving their communities.”

“Not only do infrastructure improvements help keep travelers safe, but they also help move West Virginia in the right direction economically,” Senator Capito said. “These grants will allow airports in Bluefield and Logan to make necessary improvements so they can continue delivering safe and efficient travel services while also promoting economic development in the southern region.”

Individual awards are:
  • $70,000 – Mercer County Airport Authority
  • $320,224 – Logan County Airport Authority
