Manchin Delivers Remarks at Huntington Regional Health Summit
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) attended the Huntington Regional Health Summit sponsored by Cabell Huntington Hospital to deliver remarks concerning health care for West Virginians.
“Our medical professionals know better than anyone the health care challenges facing West Virginians. We have a lot of work to do here at home – and especially at the federal level – to improve our healthcare system. I have said from the beginning that we must commit to making improvements to the Affordable Care Act and I am willing to work with anyone to make those improvements. But I will not support efforts to strip healthcare access away from thousands of West Virginians who have access for the first time,” Senator Manchin said.
Medical professionals from across the region gathered to discuss the future of health care in West Virginia as Congress works to find a viable solution for reform. Senator Manchin reiterated he is committed to fixing, not repealing the Affordable Care Act, and expressed his concerns for a variety of medical patient demographics including low-income patients, students, seniors, substance abusers and those with pre-existing conditions.
