Manchin and Capito Announce More Than $3.3 Million for Huntington Head Start Program

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) today announced a total of $3,384,277 from the U.S Department of Health and Human Resources (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) will be awarded to Southwestern Community Action Council, Inc. in Huntington. This funding will enable Head Start programs in Huntington to continue to provide critical health, nutrition, education, and social services to local families and children.

“Our children deserve the best chance at a bright future and programs like Head Start are crucial to ensuring academic success in communities across our state.  With this substantial funding, our families and children will have access to the education and services they need to thrive today and in the future,” said Senator Manchin.

“Head Start programs have created a pathway to success for many young West Virginians,” Senator Capito said. “By investing in education and social services, this funding will help strengthen the Huntington community and ensure bright futures for children in the area.”
