Manchin Announces $314k For West Virginia Wetland Monitoring Program
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, announced $314,903 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection. The funding will support a statewide program that focuses on monitoring and reporting the conditions of West Virginia’s wetlands.
“Wetlands are key to flood prevention and water quality in West Virginia and provide habitats for native fish and wildlife. To preserve these important ecosystems, I’m pleased the EPA is investing more than $314K in the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s wetland monitoring program,” said Senator Manchin. “The project will help inform policymakers of the best practices and strategies to boost conservation efforts and protect water quality. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for funding to preserve our public lands and keep the Mountain State Wild and Wonderful.”
