Manchin Announces $5.3 Million for Overdose Prevention in West Virginia
Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $5,339,590 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) in States program through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR). This program provides funding to help the state health department track and prevent nonfatal and fatal overdoses, while also identifying emerging drug threats.
“I’m pleased HHS is investing more than $5.3 million to help collect data to better prevent overdoses in West Virginia,” said Senator Manchin. “The drug epidemic has touched every corner of our state and this funding will play a critical role in combatting it. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for resources to help protect my fellow West Virginians from this devastating crisis.”
