Manchin Announces $7.7 Million for Northern Panhandle Head Start Program
Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $7,799,531 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the Northern Panhandle Head Start program, which is based in Wheeling. Head Start supports educational growth from birth to age 5 through services that provide early learning and emotional development, health and safety, and family well-being.
“I’m pleased that HHS is investing nearly $7.8 million to support Head Start in the Northern Panhandle,” said Senator Manchin. “Throughout my entire career in public service, I have been a champion of early childhood education programs like Head Start. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I am proud to have secured this funding and I will continue fighting for resources to help ensure every child in West Virginia receives a quality education.”
