Manchin, Capito Announce $178K For WVU Neuroscience Clinical Trial
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $178,421 for West Virginia University (WVU) through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Funding will support clinical research related to neurological disorders.
“Great strides have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of numerous medical conditions, however neurological disorders remain an area where more research is needed. People dealing with these conditions suffer from a variety of conditions, such as Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s; autism to strokes and much more,” said Senator Manchin. “In order to better understand and fight back against these disorders, we must conduct clinical research to best establish therapies, and I’m incredibly proud that West Virginia University is leading in this area.”
“Earlier this year, I visited WVU and saw the amazing research being conducted there,” Senator Capito said. “I’m so glad HHS recognizes their tremendous effort and awarded WVU this grant to help them continue their valuable work related to brain traumas. WVU remains a leader in neurological sciences, and I’m so pleased to see these funds aid such important research.”
