Manchin, Capito Announce $5.1 Million in HHS Grants for West Virginia

Charleston, WV — U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $5,170,593 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support a variety of research projects and prevention programs at West Virginia University (WVU) and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR).

“West Virginia has become a hub for critical research, leading to important medical and scientific advancements. I am pleased HHS is investing in these eight research and prevention programs in the Mountain State to increase awareness about the effects of tobacco use, study environmental health, strengthen cancer prevention and more,” Senator Manchin said. “I look forward to seeing the positive impacts of these projects and as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to support medical and scientific research opportunities in West Virginia.”
