Manchin, Capito, McKinley Announce Funding from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for Grant County Airport Upgrades
Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV)
and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Representative David McKinley (R-WV) announced
$75,636 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Airport Infrastructure
Grant (AIG) program to Grant County, West Virginia. The funding is through the
bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and will
support upgrades to the Grant County Airport taxiway, including pavement
sealing and crack repair.
“I
am pleased DOT is investing in West Virginia’s airports to
improve safety and efficiency,” said Senator Manchin. “Supporting West Virginia’s airports
continues to be a top priority for me, and this funding from our bipartisan
Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) will help upgrade the Grant County Airport to keep everyone safe. I look
forward to seeing the positive impacts of this funding, and as a member of the
Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for resources to
support our transportation hubs across the Mountain State.”
“West
Virginia’s airports play a key role in growing our local economies, and this
funding through the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act will help
increase development opportunities in Grant County as a result,” Senator
Capito said. “Improving the
quality, capacity, and safety of our airports was a priority of mine as I
helped craft this legislation, and I’m thrilled to see these resources
announced. As a leader on both the Appropriations and Commerce Committees, I’ll
continue working to make sure our airports have the resources needed to
strengthen operations, maintain a safe environment, and support opportunities
for more travelers to see all that our state has to offer.”
“Airports
can be drivers of local economic activity, so this opportunity to help upgrade
the Grant County Airport is much needed. Investments in hard infrastructure
projects are essential to supporting and creating jobs and driving economic
development. This award is yet another reminder of the good the infrastructure
bill is bringing to West Virginia,” said
Representative McKinley.
