Manchin, Capito Announce Funding For Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program
Washington,
DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin
(D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations
Committee, today announced $5,889,379 from the Health Resources and Services
Administration (HRSA) to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human
Resources (DHHR). This funding is allocated through HRSA’s Maternal, Infant,
and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program, which aims to support
expecting mothers and families with young children who live in communities that
face greater risks.
“Providing mothers and
children with access to quality, affordable healthcare services is essential to
raising healthy children in West Virginia. I am pleased HRSA is investing in
West Virginia’s Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting program to
support expecting mothers and families with young children, while improving
health outcomes across our state. As a member of the Senate Appropriations
Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to support mothers and
children in the Mountain State,” Senator Manchin said.
“Ensuring access to health
care services for infants, children, and expectant mothers is critical for the
health of West Virginia families and communities. HRSA’s home visiting program
will help deliver vital services to our more rural communities, while improving
the overall health of our mothers, infants, and children across our state.
Programs like this remain a top priority through my work on the Senate
Appropriations Committee, and I will always fight to deliver the resources our
mothers, families, and children need,” Senator Capito said.
