Manchin, Capito Announce Nearly $11.7 Million in Funding for West Virginia Airports
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today announced a total of $11,688,591 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation for Yeager Airport in Charleston and Tri-State Airport in Huntington. The grants will be used to reconstruct and repair terminal and runway areas.
“This funding will enable Yeager and Tri-State Airports to make necessary repairs to their existing infrastructure,” Senator Manchin said. “As a pilot myself, I understand the importance of maintaining airport facilities and the important role both airports play in West Virginia's economy.”
“As West Virginia’s two largest airports, Yeager and Tri-State are essential to keeping our state connected to the rest of the country, promoting economic growth and facilitating travel to and from West Virginia,” Senator Capito said. “This funding will help ensure these airports are able to continue serving West Virginia families and businesses safely and efficiently.”
Individual awards are:
- $2,716,700 – Yeager Airport
- $8,971,891 – Huntington Tri-State Airport (Milton J. Ferguson Field)
