Manchin Meets with FBI Director Nominee Christopher Wray
Washington D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today released the following statement regarding his meeting with Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Nominee, Christopher Wray.
“At a time when the public’s confidence in our government institutions is lower than ever, it is critically important that the person leading the FBI has sound moral character and impeccable qualifications. I watched his testimony yesterday in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee and was impressed by how he answered questions on the challenges our country is facing at this time, and I was encouraged by the support shown for his nomination on both sides of the aisle. Today, we discussed Russia’s involvement in our democratic process, the need for an FBI Director with bipartisan support during this challenging time, and how his qualifications have prepared him to serve in one of the most important positions in government. I am proud of the success of the FBI’s West Virginia workforce and will continue to work with Mr. Wray on ways to expand the Bureau’s investment and footprint in the state. I found him to be a person of honor and integrity and I look forward to reviewing his qualifications and eventually casting my vote when it comes to the Senate floor.”
