Manchin, Capito Announce Rural Workforce, Coalfield Development Grants
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced two grants totaling $3,250,000 to support rural workforce development training. Funding is provided by the Department of Labor (DOL).
“I’m glad the Department of Labor is investing in West Virginia’s economy. We know the potential that West Virginians have and these investments will help create the jobs, services and infrastructure needed to attract new industries to our rural communities and get more West Virginians back to work. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to bring opportunities to our communities to improve the lives of all West Virginians,” Senator Manchin said.
“I’ve been in frequent contact with DOL, showing the great work both Coalfield and Randolph County have been doing for workforce development in West Virginia,” Senator Capito said. “These grants will only further support their efforts to help more people gain the skills they need to thrive in a career.”
Individual awards listed below:
- $2,500,000 – Coalfield Development Corporation
- $750,000 – Randolph County Housing Authority
