Manchin Launches New Social Media Platforms to Connect With West Virginians

Tumblr, Project365 and Yelp will give West Virginians an inside look into Senator Manchin’s office

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today launched several new social media platforms to show West Virginians that he is focused on the issues that matter most to West Virginia. New social media outlets include a personalized Tumblr blog, a year-long photo challenge called “Project 365,” and a Yelp account.

“With technology rapidly changing and new platforms emerging, I want to make sure I can connect with everyone back home as much as possible,” Senator Manchin said. “I truly value the concept of ‘retail government,’ so I can personally reach out to the people of West Virginia to respond to their ideas, concerns and priorities on the important issues our nation faces today. These social media sites are great new ways to let West Virginians know what my staff and I are working on every day.”

The new Tumblr page will help Senator Manchin connect with West Virginians on a more personal level and will include family photos, the Senator’s favorite music, behind-the-scenes videos and an introduction to the staff and office. The “Project 365” platform will include a daily photograph of Senator Manchin or staff working for the people of West Virginia. Additionally, Senator Manchin has created a Yelp account, which he will use regularly to spotlight small businesses, restaurants and favorite local spots in West Virginia.
