Manchin Statement Commemorating Flag Day

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released the following statement commemorating U.S. Flag Day. In honor of Flag Day, Senator Manchin’s staff is presenting flags at events in locations including Delbarton, Sutton, Star City and Wheeling.

“Each and every day, students, Veterans, soldiers, scouts, and Americans pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. We salute it; we fight for it; we cherish it; we honor it and every year on June 14, we come together to celebrate, honor, and cherish Old Glory. June 14 commemorates the day in 1777 when the Continental Congress officially established the stars and stripes as the official symbol and flag of the United States of America. And every year since, we pay tribute and reflect on the legacy of our founding fathers and those who sacrificed so much for the creation of our great country. This Flag Day, I encourage all West Virginians to take a moment to reflect on our flag, celebrate it, and pay tribute to Old Glory and all the ideals for which our country was founded.”
