Manchin Votes to Confirm Director Pompeo

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released the following statement on his vote to confirm the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Mike Pompeo.

“Today I voted to confirm Mike Pompeo as the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. As a former Governor, I understand how crucial it is for an executive leader to have his team in place, especially his security team, as soon as possible. Director Pompeo has had a distinguished career in public service and I believe he will provide wise counsel and objective advice to President Trump on our nation's security. The employees of the CIA deserve credit for their daily, unseen and unrecognized work to keep America safe, and Mike Pompeo is the right man to lead them. I look forward to working with him in a bipartisan manner to continue to protect all West Virginians and Americans.”
