Manchin Announces $1.8 Million For Six West Virginia Airports

Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $1,866,717 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The funding will support structural and equipment improvements at six airports across West Virginia and is made possible by the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP).

“West Virginia’s airports are a critical form of transportation for our residents and visitors and we must prioritize making these essential improvements,” said Senator Manchin. “I’m pleased the FAA is investing more than $1.8 million to improve service, ensure safety and boost economic and commercial development at these six airports. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to support transportation hubs across the Mountain State.”

Individual awards listed below:

  • $1,008,338 - Greenbrier Valley Regional Airport, Lewisburg
  • This funding will support rehabilitating 7,000 feet of Runway 4/22 to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.
  • $265,771 – Fairmont Municipal Airport, Fairmont  
  • This funding will support rehabilitating 1,000 feet of the existing taxi lane pavement to extend its useful life.
  • $222,785 – Braxton County Airport, Sutton
  • This funding will support acquiring and installing new automated weather observing system AWOS III P/T to provide site-specific weather information.
  • $187,207 - Grant County Airport, Petersburg
  • This funding will support resealing reseals 1462 feet of the existing Taxiway B through G pavement at a non-primary airport to extend its useful life.
  • $122,532 – Logan County Airport, Logan
  • This funding will support constructing a new 3,000 square foot snow removal equipment building to bring the airport into conformity with current standards.
  • $60,084 – Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport, Parkersburg

This funding will support reconstructing 600 square feet of the existing terminal.
