Manchin Announces $25.5 Million To Support Infrastructure Improvements In Bluefield
Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $25,547,532 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for the City of Bluefield. The funding, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will support infrastructure improvements along U.S. Route 52, including converting four intersections to roundabouts and enhancing pedestrian safety through additional sidewalks, crosswalks, and street lighting. In May, Senator Manchin wrote a letter of support for this application, highlighting that the revitalization would serve to increase the availability and safety of multimodal transportation options.
“Our transportation system is the foundation for economic growth in our State, and that’s why improving and modernizing our roads, bridges and highways has been and continues to be one of my top priorities,” said Senator Manchin. “This investment of more than $25 million will boost tourism, spur economic development and promote safe and secure travel for all West Virginians. I was proud to support the City’s request for this funding and, as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for resources to strengthen our transportation infrastructure across the Mountain State.”
