Manchin Announces $4.9 Million To Promote Public Safety Across West Virginia
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $4,948,069 from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for two programs dedicated to promoting public safety and supporting victims of crime across West Virginia.
“I’m pleased that these critical investments from the Department of Justice will expand West Virginia’s victim compensation and victim assistance programs,” said Senator Manchin. “These funds will lift up the West Virginians who most need support and will enhance public safety across our state. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to keep West Virginians safe and secure.”

The DOJ Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Victim Assistance Formula Grant supports local community-based organizations and public agencies that provide services directly to victims.
- $4,433,069 – GO33 Justice and Community Services
The DOJ Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Victim Compensation Formula Grant Program supports state and territory crime victim compensation programs and reimburse crime victims for expenses resulting from criminal violence.
- $515,000 – Legislative Office of the State of West Virginia
